- They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June, 1973. If Brad had lived just a few months longer, they would have been able to celebrate their 60th anniversary in June, 1983. Article from newspaper:
KINGS TO MARK 50th
There is a golden wedding anniversary coming up for Mr. and Mrs. Brad King. They will be honored with open house Sunday, June 3 at their home, Route 2, Sevierville, from 2 until 4 o'clock.
Mrs. King was Miss Blanche Emert, daughter of the late John and Mary Emert from Middle Creek before the couple's wedding June 3, 1923. The ceremony was performed by the late Reverend R. [Ramsey] A. Johnson at his home on Oldham's Creek.
They have nine children: Arthur King of Maryville, Billy King of Cleveland, Ohio, James King of Dandridge, Mrs. John (Janice) Townsend of Knoxville, Mrs. Jim (Rue) Proffitt of Candler, North Carolina, Mrs. Clarence (Eva) Seagle of Pigeon Forge, J. D. King, Mrs. Clay (Charlotte) Breeden and Mrs. James (Eugenia) Watson all of Sevierville. There are 30 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
All friends and relatives are invited to attend.
They were first married by Ramsey Johnson.
