July 23, 1842 is an alternate date of birth listed in the LDS database. Dee Lansford lists birth as July 13, 1842. She married in 1859 in Sevier County, Tennessee, William Calvin Harden (Hardin). He was killed in action in 1864 while serving in the Union forces during the Civil War, near Elk River Alabama. They were the parents of two children. She then married in 1866 in Sevier County, Tennessee, William Walker, the son of Thomas Walker and Eliza Jane Myers. They were the parents of six children. Sarah was listed in the 1870 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee as Sarah A. 27 (1843), although I have never seen 1843 listed as a date of birth for her. The family moved to Sullivan County, Missouri, after 1881, and most of the children as well as the parents remained in the state of Missouri. Sarah died Jan 04, 1914. Other sources give the birth date of Thomas as 1714. Louisa Co. Virginia, Deed Books A and B, 1742-1759, 1976. This deed is the sale of Land in 1751 by Thomas and Sarah that was purchased in 1747. Abstracted and compiled by Rosalie Edith Davis, Bellevue, Washington, 1976. Deed Book A, Page 69 Shows that Thomas and Sarah King purchased a tract of land 28 Oct 1747. and sold it 16 Oct 1751. Sale was acknowledged by Thomas King. Sarah , his wife consenting. Thomas 1st child was named Sackville leading one to the conclusion that his mother was Sarah Sackville. On the Death of John White one- Sixth of "Meadow Wood" was inherited by Thomas King And Tillah White his wife in 1761. Tillah it is concluded was the Second wife of Thomas. The Deed dividing John White's plantation is dated 6 July 1758 and refers to John White late of St. Paul's Parish in Hanover Co. Virginia and refers to his last will and Testament given prior to the time of his death directing the division of his property among his six children Thomas King then the husband of Tillah white was named as one of the six to receive a portion. The King family lived in Meadow Wood until 1798. In 1799 Thomas King's heirs conveyed 263 acres to Benjamin King. Benjamin had Married Martha Haywood and in 1802 they sold the property to George Washington Truehart. The death of Tillah is not known however information from Magdalena King and the Cooper family it is understood that Thomas had another wife after Tillah named Sarah Harrison from which they derive their lineage. Benjamin King, youngest son of Thomas and Sarah born in Louisa Co. Virginia on 11 Sep 1767 was almost certainly born at Meadow Wood.[JohnKing Descendants.ged] Thomas King, 3rd son of William Alfred King and Sophia Burgess, was born in Stafford County, Va., in 1714. He married Sarah Alexander. We find his name quite frequently mentioned in the Virginia records. On October 23, 1747, Thomas King bought 214 acres of land in Louisa and Hanover counties from Wilson Harris. On October 16, 1751 "Thomas King, planter, and Sarah, his wife, of St. Martin's Parish," sold this land to John Pottens. Their homestead consisting of 263 acres situated on both sides of the Pamunky river in Louisa county, is the plantation which was deeded to Benjamin King (youngest child) by his brothers and sisters. Thomas King died in 1798 and he and his wife were buried on the plantation, but when it was sold in 1802 their bodies were removed. Thomas King and Sarah Alexander had the following children: Sackville, William, Daniel, Elisha, John, Thomas, Philip, Margaret, Walter, Catherine and Benjamin. |
