7553 I7134  King  Nancy Jane  28 Jul 1880  10 Apr 1976  Nancy's Surname is listed as King. I have seen her information listed bith with and without a surname but never have I seen parents listed for her. The LDS databse has her listed as King and I believe the likley hood of two Kings getting married is high enough that I am leving her surname as King until further evidence emreges.  tree1

Nathaniel did not leave long enough to see his only child be born. Family rumor states that he was murdered, most say shot, and that his widow never remarried. I have seen nothing to confirm or deny these speculations.

7561 I19092  King  Nathaniel Louis Wilson  1 Jul 1827  1876  Many researchers have his name listed as Nathaniel Lewis King. Dee Lansford and a few others lists Nathaniel's given names as Lewis Wilson. Alice Foster Blevins lists his given and surname as LOUIS WILSON KING. She is the only source I have ever seen that has the full birth date information listed for this individual and do to that fact I am inclined to believe his name may have been Natheniel Louis Wilson King. I had previousaly had his name listed as Nathaniel Lewis Wilson King.

Nathaniel King was born in 1827 in Sevier County, Tennessee. He married Eva Rosanna Maples, the daughter of Abijah Maples and Elizabeth McMahan, in 1849 in Sevier County, Tennessee. They were the parents of at least five children, but there may have been more, who all remained in and around Sevier County, Tennessee.

Nathan died in 1876 in Sevier County, Tennessee, although some list it as Missouri. Roseann went on to marry Thomas (Tom) Jones Walker on April 03 1879.

7562 I67761  KING  NATHANIEL M.  1770  18 Nov 1843  "Nathaniel (Nat) King is the first proven ancestor in our King line. Very little has been found on the history or family of this man. Parents are unknown (still researching). Family tradition is that he was born in Westmorland County, Virginia circa 1760-70, moving to South Carolina some time before or at the time of his marriage. His wife was reportedly born in South Carolina. Also, some of the early family was living in North Carolina, possibly brothers of Nathaniel. Nathaniel King, possibly the child of Henry King and Barbara Moore, was born circa 1760-70 in Westmorland County, Virginia and died November 11, 1843 in Sevier County, Tennessee. He is buried in Mattox Cemetery, Wears Valley, Sevier County, Tennessee. (marker lost). Circa 1796, he married Elizabeth Runyon, born in 1779 in South Carolina, parents unknown. She lived in the home of oldest son, Wiley King, after her husbands death. She died at age 73 on August 6, 1852 and is buried in Mattox Cemetery, Sevier County, Tennessee. Nathaniel and Elizabeth King lived in South Carolina when their first three children were born, moving to Tennessee before 1806. They lived in McMinn County for several years and are listed in the 1830 McHinn County census with two sons and one daughter. Three other sons had moved before to Sevier County. Sons Wiley, George, and William Riley are in the 1830 census in Sevier County, Tennessee. Nathaniel moved to Sevier County before 1840 and appears on census."

7563 I67761  KING  NATHANIEL M.  1770  18 Nov 1843  Nathaniel King has an entry for 100 acres of land on the waters of Middle Creek in the Sevier County, Tennessee. This could, however, be his son Nathanial as he was married that year. Further evidence suggesting such is that the land bordered his son William's property and was witnessed by his two sons.
In surveyor's Book No. 1 dated in 1834 is the following:
'State of Tennessee) 'By virtue of Entry No. 1000 dated 7 day of March 1834 Sevier County)
'I have surveyed for Nathaniel King one hundred acres of land in said county lying joining the lands of Philip Roberts Sen 'Beginning on a Poplar near a corner to said Roberts land, running then with Middle Creek S 68 E 60 Poles to a stake, N 59 E 94 Poles to a white Oak near the water fall a corner to an Entry in the name of William King, then with the same N 8 47 Poles to a white oak a corner to same, the with V[acant] L[ands] N 43 94 Poles to a Black Oak, S 70 W 102 Poles to a Black Oak and Pine on a Ridge, S 5 W 83 Poles to a stake & mulberry on or near the line of George Fox, S 38 E 25 Poles to the Beginning.

tree1
7564 I67761  KING  NATHANIEL M.  1770  18 Nov 1843  It is also noted that some researchers, such as Ina Walker King, have Nathans parents listed as Henry King and Barbara Moore, instead of William King and Lavina Bland. Henry King born in 1758 is thought to have married Barbara Jeannette Moore born 1771 and had two children both born in the 1790's. The large problem, other than the age gap that would be between Nat and his siblings via Henry is the blaring fact that Jeannette Moore being born in 1771 could not have been the mother of a man also born in 1770'

Nathaniel has had his birth listed as South Carolina or Virginia as some sources list him such as Debbie Furgeson, Dee Lansford, Brian Engel and Sandra Staverman. Carolyn S. Murray and Sam Williamson lists his birth as 1775 and about 1774 is the birth date listed by Brian Engel and Sandra Staverman. Due to locations of the birth of his siblings I can only conclude that he was in fact born in Westermorland County, Virginia.

In 1804 Nathaniel King and his family migrated to Tennessee from South Carolina. Nathaniel King with his wife, two sons and one daughter stayed for a few years in McMinn County, Tennessee. They were listed in the 1830 Federal Census there. The children settled in the Middle Creek and Wears Cove areas of Sevier County, Tennessee. They were listed in the 1830 Federal Census there. Nathaniel King and his wife Elizabeth Runyan were listed in the 1840 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee.

7565 I67761  KING  NATHANIEL M.  1770  18 Nov 1843  "The first proven ancestor of the King families in Sevier County, Tennessee is Nathaniel King. Nathaniel King was born circa 1770/80 in South Carolina. He came to Sevier County, Tennessee from South Carolina, living for a while in McMinn County, Tennessee. Nathaniel King was married circa 1798 to Elizabeth ________. Elizabth was born 1779 in south Carolina. Nathaniel King died circa 1840/50 in Sevier County, Tennessee. Elizabeth was living with their son, Wyley King, in 1850 in Wear's Cove area. She died circa 1850-1860 in Sevier County, Tennessee. Nathaniel King and his wife, Elizabeth, two sons and one daughter are listed in the 1830 Federal Census in McMinn County, Tennessee. Three other sons, Wyley, William Riley, and George King had already settled in the Wear's Cove area of Sevier County, Tennessee and appear on the 1830 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee. Nathaniel King appears on 1840 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee. Was Nathaniel King a son of William King -- Revolutionary War soldier? Nathaniel King had a brother, Henry King, who was in the McMinn County Tennessee census of 1850. Henry King was born 1765 in Virginia and married Susan __________. Susan was born 1779 in North Carolina."

Roger's son, Sir Ralph King, distinguished himself at the battle of Agincourt in 1415. This Sir Ralph had a son, John King, whose son, Sir Thomas King, married Johanna Beauchamp, daughter of the Earl of Warwick. Among their several sons was William King who married Margaret Ferrers, and their son, Captain William King, who commanded the ship Diamond, was the first of the name to visit the shores of Virginia (1609). On the return voyage his vessel was wrecked in a storm near the English coast and he was lost. This Captain William King married Blanche Mainwaring, and their sons, John, Ralph, and Thomas came to Virginia. The first of these, John King, commanded the ship Falcon and in 1636 was in the Barbadoes trade. Later he went to Virginia, several of his sons going with him, and one of them, Michael, settled in Norfolk. The wife of Captain John King was Ann Daniel, daughter of Piers Daniel, whom he married in Chestershire, England.
