One Richard Evans (b 1751-d 1820) pri, comsy Wagonmaster; m. Katherine McCarter. There is some other data which I can't interpret. E-Mail, Doris Noland Parton [tenntree@peoplepc.com], 2 Dec 2011. Here is from the Richard Evans Bible. I can send you a photo copy. It was owned ca 1977 by Ola Parton Shrader. She is now deceased, but I am sure that her family still has the Bible. They lived on Douglas Dam Rd. in Sevierville. Evans family Bible records Material in ( ) is my insertions, not in Bible Richard was Borned November 22 1789 Catharine Evans (Emert, dau of Frederick Emert and Barbara (Knight) Was Borned March the 4 .1796. Barbara Evans was (named for her mother) Borned February 12. 1813 Elizabeth Was Borned November the 25 1816 (married William Whaley) George W Evans was Borned March the 30 1819 (or could be March the 3 and then a small ink blob? then 1819) Polly L. (Sometimes given as Richard R. M. Evans. He married Elizabeth Lindsey, daughter of Jesse Lidnsey.) on second page Margaret J Evans was Borned Aprile 29 1837 (She married Benjamin Christopher Parton, son of Benjamin and Hannah (Cole) Sarah L Evans was Borned Januar the 3. 1840 (Sarah married Albert Huston Parton, son of Moses R. and Mary J. There may be another name in pencil after Tilman. Will look that up later. (Tilman Parton was actually the son of Sarah Evans Parton and James Madison Maples. She had other children out of wedlock also. While still married to her Albert Huston Parton went to Harlan, KY, and married again to a Pace. He dropped his last name and went by the name “Albert Huston.â€) I have that elsewhere in my notes. Sarah had children after Albert Huston Parton and she separated. They went by Parton. I have papers from a Federal Inquiry held in Emerts Cove. She was trying to get a pension, but she couldn't prove that he was dead. The inquiry found that he probably was dead, but she did not get the pension because of her character. Actually, Albert Huston Parton was still alive and showed up later in Sevier Co. TN and claimed his pension. I have never found him after 1860 until then. (He has been found by me since that time! Doris Noland Parton!) Third page of Bible records Richard Evans and Catharine was Marred March the 26 1812 Albert H Partin was Marred in the year of our Lord January the 28 1858 Catherine M Partin was Borned October the 30th 1858 (That is an interesting note since Catherine's birth was already given on the second page. I guess they were just making sure that people knew that they were married Jan 28 and had a baby Oct the 30th-9months after the marriage!) Additional info: Tillman Parton's father was not Albert Huston Parton. He is believed to be a son of a Maples. (It was James Madison Maples. There is a huge pension file on him at the Sevierville Library.) I will have to pull out the inquiry papers to get the Maples name. The Maples man admitted that he had slept with Sarah, he lived with her daughter Mary J Francis Parton, and he then married a granddaughter of Sarah's. All this is in the inquiry. Richard Evans Catherine Emert children: 1. Barbara Evans born Feb 12, 1813 2. Elizabeth born Nov 25, 1816 married William Whaley 3. George W. Evans born March 30, 1819 m Susannah 4. Polly L. Evans born August 26, 1823 5. Frederick E. (probably Emert) Evans born January 26, 1826 6. Catherine M Evans born May 3, 1829, married John Parton, son of Benjamin Parton and Hannah Cole. 7. Richard M. R. Evans born Jan 15, 1832(Richard McClellan(d) Ro(d)ger(s) Evans) married Elizabeth Lindsay/Lindsey, dau of Jesse. 8. Margaret J. Evans born Apr 29. 1837 married Benjamin Chris Parton, son of Benjamin Parton and Hannah Cole. This is my children's line. 9. Sarah L. Evans born Jan. 3, 1840, married Albert Huston Parton, son of Moses Parton and Mary Hasley. I need to weed through the huge Evans folder, and I will be glad to share with you any thing that I have that will help in your research. 850 | Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Pritchard Sr. of Allegany Co., MD. Some researchers have said George's two wives were Elizabeth Pritchard and Elizabeth Smith. An examination of his will and the ensuing controversy makes it clear that these two Elizabeths were the same person. Elizabeth Pritchard, sister of William Pritchard, married first (-?-) Smith and had at least three children: Thomas P. Smith, Pritchard W. Smith, and Margaret Smith, who married Abraham Millan. Elizabeth apparently died intestate; her administrator was Thomas Prichard, and her estate was settled 3 APR 1854, with the implication that she had died in 1852. | Pritchard, Sarah Elizabeth (I12728)
