571 | Carol Jane Sankus King and most of the known world list his name as John Russell King, Jr. but Grandpa's name was JR King. His military dog tags read Jonly Ronly King to indicate J Only R Only King. Some people falsely believe he went under James when in the military. The following is an excerpt from an email from Patrica Carol King Patterson; A memory just came to me. When J and Nig lived across the field from us my brother Jim and me would walk across the field and pick up Buck to walk the rest of the way to the bus stop. I was in fourth grade and learning fractions. I just wasn't grasping it. Every morning J would go over my homework with me. Then try to explain it to me. One morning it got through my thick head and I shall never forget the big grin he had on his face when he realized that I had finally caught on. I made good grades in math all of my school years and I attribute part of that to his helping me to understand the fractions. He was such a great guy. 573 | Carol Jane Sankus King lists the date of birth as 1840. Nathaniel did not leave long enough to see his only child be born.
