He met his wife to be when he stayed at her parents house. They later mover to what would become Dean, West Virginia. They farmed and operated a general store near the Clark farm at Dean. They were fairly suscessful. It has bee n told by George Clark that after the Civil War there were bands of bandits t hat roamed the countryside. A group of these robbed John Clark's store in De an.
