1105 | It appears that John loved his wife very much and wished not to endanger her life by trying to start a family to soon after her marriage, as she was still just a child at the time and he was all of 14 years her senior. They did not have their first child until his child bride was about 18 years of age. Not all men of this time period would have waited so long although it does appear that he eagerly made up for lost time producing at least 13 children with his wife. | Family: JOHN LEONARD GARRISON / REBECCA GAPEN LONG (F3169)

1106 | It is also noted that some researchers, such as Ina Walker King, have Nathans parents listed as Henry King and Barbara Moore, instead of William King and Lavina Bland. Henry King born in 1758 is thought to have married Barbara Jeannette Moore born 1771 and had two children both born in the 1790's. The large problem, other than the age gap that would be between Nat and his siblings via Henry is the blaring fact that Jeannette Moore being born in 1771 could not have been the mother of a man also born in 1770' Nathaniel has had his birth listed as South Carolina or Virginia as some sources list him such as Debbie Furgeson, Dee Lansford, Brian Engel and Sandra Staverman. Carolyn S. Murray and Sam Williamson lists his birth as 1775 and about 1774 is the birth date listed by Brian Engel and Sandra Staverman. Due to locations of the birth of his siblings I can only conclude that he was in fact born in Westermorland County, Virginia. In 1804 Nathaniel King and his family migrated to Tennessee from South Carolina. Nathaniel King with his wife, two sons and one daughter stayed for a few years in McMinn County, Tennessee. They were listed in the 1830 Federal Census there. The children settled in the Middle Creek and Wears Cove areas of Sevier County, Tennessee. They were listed in the 1830 Federal Census there. Nathaniel King and his wife Elizabeth Runyan were listed in the 1840 Federal Census of Sevier County, Tennessee. | KING, NATHANIEL M. Sr. (I67761)

1108 | It is known that Robert Rainwater was 54 when he died, sadly this not narrow down the birth and death dates as much as we would like them to. Notes of Martha Bankson Lyle: "Arrived from England as headright, passage being paid by John Hurt ...... Trans. of 11 pers: Tho. Solwell, Michaell (a?) Portugees, Robert Rainwater, Sarah Hoskins, Eliza. Bosford, Anne Gill, Wm. Skyles, Mary Parte, Susanna Good, Cha. Goodrich, Anne Hum." "I have a page from Virginia Cavaliers and Pioneers, Pg 108, that lists a Robert Rainwater as having been transported to King William County during the same 1695-1706 time frame by a John Hurt. Robert was one of eleven persons listed. I would speculate but not prove that Robert ws the Father of John due to dates and locations." "About John Rainwater being born 1695-1705 in Danbury, VA, yes, I too have seen the earlier work that states this. However, so far, I have not seen any of these researchers, or the current ones, who can say what this statement is based on. Fine, to write that John was born in Danbury VA in 1695, but what proof is there? Why does everyone say he was born in Danbury VA? Are there any records supporting that? Are there any other Rainwaters living in that area then? If so, I, surely would like to know about that. Couldn't he just as easily, have been born in New Kent Co., where the Fussells lived? Or maybe in Prince William County where the Hurts lived? Or anywhere else in early VA, or maybe even born in another country, and came to the Colonies as a boy, or young man? You also say that a Robert Rainwater came as a headright of John Hurts in 1705. Yes, records do support that, but then you and many others come to the conclusion that Robert may be John's father. That may well be, but if that is so, and Robert only arrived in America in 1705, then, his son was NOT born in Danbury VA in 1695, and would have had to been born elsewhere, and probably came here along with Robert. Or, John would have had to have been born after 1705 in America, and then who is the mother, of John, a wife, Robert wed very soon after arrival in America. Also possible Robert is no relative to John, or an older brother, uncle, or cousin. I don't think, on the early Rainwaters, there is enough proof to come to any conclusions. The proof may exist, as yet unfound, or we may never know. It just does NOT jive, that John was born in 1695 in Danbury VA, and his father, if Robert, arrived ten years later in 1705, as an indenture, brought here by John Hurt, of Prince William Co., VA. Either these two are father and son, and John was born outside America, or if born in VA, after 1705, or their relationship is a more distant one.""
