Family History Writing Challenge 2018 is Here
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his is intimidating and exciting to undertake. For FHWC 2018, I pledge to write at least 300 words per blog and to track my daily progress in the Family History Writing Challenge Daily Word Count Tracker. At the first of next month or the end of this month, I will post sharing the results of my daily goals and the emotional journey of this month. For this project, my husband is my cheerleader and point of accountability.
Next year I will approach the FHWC differently. If I discover I can write 300 words a post with ease, I will consider moving to a higher goal. In past years you could pick anyone to write about for any story. This year moves more to writing about one thoroughly researched ancestor. I will still do a summary proof of my word count next year.
No Playing Favorites this FHWC
I decided that I will not do the single ancestor approach this year. I may heavily post about one or two people but they would not be the focus for the entire month of posts. I want to make sure whom I would pick would be upheld to Genealogical Professional Standards and citied using Evidence Explained. If I were to do any less than that, I would let myself down and feel I dishonor my family.
Next year I will try to pick a single ancestor, a family brick wall, an important or unusual Surname or a small branch of my family to write about. This year I am sure I will jump around and be writing from the heart.
As much as I wish this counted for my first post it is about the challenge, not fulfilling the Challenge. It’s time to end this post and start my first post for the challenge instead of about the challenge.
